OBLAXZ Rap Group History.

Oblaxz, is not just a group - but a group of groups. Each member of Oblaxz is a member of yet another group. These groups are brought together by one rap label IPK-Oblaxz Music. Every  Sunday they would meet. "Yup, like a prayer group", they all laugh. At the center of this conglomerate is Carl, who is the head of the rap label. Carl is pretty much a solo act, but when he performs or records, he gets members from different groups to back him up. Even Gloc-9 has joined him in past recordings.

The members of Oblaxz (for now) are Carl Cecilio a.k.a. K-OZZ; Louwin Celis a.k.a. TURRO from the group Dobladista; James Prades a.k.a. KAIN from the group Kain at Abel; Carlos Quisay a.k.a. KILABOT from the group Dugong Ponebre; James Ebio a.k.a. DUKKE from the group Hipnotismo; and Jim Paul de Jose a.k.a. RHYME PLAYA from the group Squadron.

Oblaxz has been around for several years now; they have in fact 3 albums already - the first 2 of which had already gone platinum. And that's minus TV exposures and radio airplay. They filed up concert venues (about the size of Quezon City's Kampo). The guys have a following, man!

But like Gloc-9, Oblaxz sound unabashedly and undeniably Pinoy. Their "Trip Mo, Trip Ko" which got them on the Trip soundtrack, is structured and sounds like a chant. It has a rhythm that, given political lyrics, could be the type of thing you would hear in this country's favorite pastime, (i.e., revolutions and overthrowing presidents).

And where did Oblaxz get their name? Well, it's actually from the adjective that used to describe all the members: Kalbo... spelled backwards, you get Oblak. They simply changed the spelling and added the Z sound for a "respectable" and cool-sounding name.

ALBUMS:

1. Bisyo ng Demonyo
2. Ang Testamento
3. Perdegana
4. Oblaxz for Ever
